WUM COUNCIL MAKES A GIANT LEAP INTO DIGITAL CHANGE

The Wum Council Focal Point has just attended a two-day digitization capacity building workshop aimed at boosting his capacity to renew the council’s website. It’s all part of our efforts to make use of digital platforms to promote the municipality’s services, tourist attractions, and local economic growth.

The workshop, with representatives from various councils in the Northwest, was organized by the United Councils and Cities of Cameroun, UCCC and hosted by the Bamenda 1 Council. Opening the workshop, Mayor Mbigha Njah Felix of Bamenda 1 Council called on participants to be focus, learn and showcase the councils of the Northwest Region to the world.

This workshop was designed to equip them with the skills needed to maintain and manage their own sites. The council representative, who attended the workshop at high energy, gained a lot from website management, content creation, and storytelling in digital media.

The Wum council flagship led a learning experience on how to produce interesting content, write-ups and photos, which capture facilities and attractions in the municipality.

During the workshop, the role of internet platforms in local tourism and economic promotion was emphasized, and specialists offered tips on how to use these platforms so as to welcome investors and tourists.

Wum Council Focal Point was schooled on using digital platforms to engage citizens, answer their questions, and further educate them in line with council activities and services.

After learning new knowledge and skills, we anticipate frequent posting on our website, such as:

– Colorful images of our municipality’s attractions, such as landscapes, festivals, and local enterprises, tourist sites and economic potentials.

– Uplifting articles of our services, such as health, education, and infrastructure development.

– Community development programs and success stories, demonstrating the influence of council projects in the people’s lives.

The Digitization capacity building workshop will contribute greatly to determining the Wum Council’s presence on the internet, thereby enabling us to:

– Increase awareness and visibility of council services and attractions.

– Attract investors and tourists into the municipality.

– Enhance citizen participation and engagement in council decision-making.

– Raise transparency and accountability in council operations.
