The Wum Municipal leadership has issued a comprehensive update on a range of ongoing development projects

The Wum Municipal leadership has issued a comprehensive update on a range of ongoing development projects, assuring residents of significant progress across vital sectors despite what they describe as a “challenging period of the crisis.” The communication, addressed to the inhabitants of the Wum Municipality, highlighted advancements in water infrastructure, public buildings, housing, and bridge construction.
“We want to thank all those who keep praying for us during this challenging period of the crisis,” the municipal leadership’s statement began, acknowledging the difficult circumstances while pivoting to a message of active development.
A key highlight is the advancement of the critical water project. The Lord Mayor of Wum Council, Dighambong Anthony Mvo also confirmed the successful completion of a concrete culvert linking Zonghefu to Waindo. Another culvert near Zekebuiliwai, connecting to the quarter where Ma Ewi Elisabeth lives, is currently awaiting backfill.
Progress is also visible on public and residential infrastructure. The town hall is nearing completion, with only glass works and painting remaining. At Up station, the low-cost housing units are reportedly 70% realized, while shops at the courtyard are also actively under development.
Bridge construction is another area of significant focus. The municipality announced the completion of the Nyio and Maah bridges in Naikom. Looking ahead, construction of the Moghuo-Wanangwen Bridge is slated to begin within the next two to three weeks, and procedures are commencing for the Ndzala bridge, among many other planned projects.
The Wum municipal magistrate underscored a spirit of resilience and determination. “We keep fighting for our municipality not because we don’t have weaknesses but because we are strongest in our weaknesses in order to leave our legacy,” the statement declared, emphasizing a commitment to continuous development for the benefit of its residents. This continuous fighting spirit, it was noted, has recently attracted numerous other projects to the area.
The message also called for a continued prayer, reflecting the strong community bond and the determination of Wum’s leadership to push forward with development for its people.
